Another Promising Performance

Okay, now here’s one I’d really like to offer my personal recommendation on, but as I’ve not actually seen these groups perform — either in person or in their recently released film — all I can do is say that I believe this is gonna be a good one.

The 9:30 Club is going to be featuring the cast of A Mighty Wind — in character — performing on stage September 21st; tickets go on sale today. We’re talking the Folksmen (Spinal Tap alumni Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer), Mitch and Mickey (Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara), and the New Main Street Singers (featuring Jane Lynch, John Michael Higgins, and Parker Posey). If you want a taste, you can check out the film’s trailer or give the soundtrack a listen, but alas, the video’s not due out until two days after the show.

I’m curious to see how well they pull it off — if the musical magic Guest and company managed with Spinal Tap is any indication, it’ll be another must-see.

He dabbles in screenwriting, acting, 3-D animation, and writing autobiographical comments in the third person. He is also a published illustrator, has provided schematic graphics for several HBS case studies, designed the acclaimed Protégé clay poker chip line, wrote for the (now-dormant) online literary magazine Inkblots, and acts as editor for the MotherReader weblog (which is not-so-coincidentally written by his wife). He currently resides at a secret compound in Burke, Virginia, with his wife Pam and their two daughters.
