Look, on the TV! It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s... Oh, I Guess Not
I happened to catch the satellite listings for last night, and what NBC was simply touting as a “Seinfeld special,” was revealed to me in the official title: The Adventures of Seinfeld & Superman. That, combined with the prevailing word that the second episode of the American Express commercial series would be premiering on the 20th led me to believe that said premiere would not be on the Web, but in prime time.
Alas, my conclusion was almost right. We got the kids ready for bed so they could stay up and watch — they loved the original, not only for the catchy, “Oh, Yes! Wyoming!” tune, but because Superman was voiced by none other than the Tick himself, Patrick Warburton (they were big Tick fans, which I was happy to indulge as they were too young to catch most of the adult references). The so-called “special” began with the first ad, “A Uniform Used to Mean Something.” Fair enough — they’re setting the stage, and we certainly didn’t mind seeing it again. And then... a preview of “Hindsight Is 20/20.” Just a preview.
Okay, so the kids were disappointed (all right, me too), but I promised to get it off of the Web today. (We don’t have high-speed access — or, in fact, any access — at home. Long story.) So I went to the site, only to discover that it wasn’t there either. Finally, however, I found it. It seems that it’s there, but just not on the Flash-based version of the site — which, of course, had been set as my default.
So if you’d like to give it a look-see, head on over to the html-based version of the site and view away. Funny stuff — I wish they’d do more, though I suspect this is it. Still, who knows — that’s what they said about the BMW Films shorts.
