Letting the Fox Tend the Henhouse
Surprise, surprise, we’ve got another crooked official in the Bush White House. (Yes, yes, I know it’s getting hard to keep track of them all...)
This time, it’s Philip A. Cooney of the White House Council on Environmental Quality (a contradiction in terms if ever there were one), who censored official government reports on climate change, changing wording, excising entire paragraphs, and otherwise watering down a report that would have made the White House’s environmental record look like the steaming pile of dung that it actually is.
The official response to such flagrant falsification?
None whatsoever. Business as usual. After all, if we’ve got Ken Lay writing U.S. energy policy, what’s wrong with letting a former oil industry lawyer handle our reports on climate change research?
